CHOOSING YOUR PENDULUM

A pendulum can be any weighted object on a string — a crystal, a ring, or a pendant. Crystal pendulums are traditional: amethyst for spiritual questions, clear quartz for clarity, rose quartz for matters of the heart.

CALIBRATING YOUR PENDULUM

Hold the chain between thumb and forefinger, elbow slightly bent.
Allow the pendulum to hang still and say: "Show me YES." Observe the movement pattern.
Allow it to still again and say: "Show me NO." Each pendulum has a unique vocabulary.
A third pattern often indicates "maybe" or "ask again."

BEST PRACTICES

Work in a calm, quiet space — electromagnetic interference is real.

🔮 Black Mirror Scrying

Scrying is the art of gazing into a reflective surface to receive visions, symbols, and impressions. The black mirror — obsidian, glass, or still dark water — acts as a window between worlds. Soften your gaze, release expectation, and allow images to arise naturally.

CREATING YOUR SCRYING MIRROR

A traditional black mirror is made by painting the back of a piece of glass with matte black paint (several coats). Obsidian mirrors are available commercially. A bowl of still dark water works equally well.

THE SCRYING TECHNIQUE

Work in low candlelight — two candles placed behind you so they're reflected dimly in the mirror.
Settle into a relaxed, meditative state. Breathe deeply for two minutes.
Gaze at (not into) the mirror's surface. Soften your focus — think of how you look at the sky, not a specific cloud.
Do not blink excessively; allow your gaze to become heavy and fixed.
After 5–15 minutes, the mirror may appear to "fog" or "deepen." Symbolic images may form — accept the first impression without analytical judgment.
Record everything in your grimoire immediately after, before the impressions fade.

COMMON SYMBOLS AND THEIR MEANINGS

Symbols in scrying are personal — your subconscious is as important as any universal meaning. However, water often signals emotion or intuition; fire suggests transformation; a path signals a decision ahead; an eye suggests being watched over or gaining insight.
