🌿 Witch's Herb Garden
Every witch needs a garden — even if it's just a windowsill. Learn to grow, harvest, dry, and use the most powerful magical herbs in your practice.
Moon Planting
Plant above-ground herbs during the waxing moon for strong growth. Plant root herbs during the waning moon. Harvest leaves at the full moon when oils are most potent.
Companion Planting
Rosemary and sage grow well together (both Sun herbs). Lavender near chamomile amplifies calming energy. Basil protects neighboring plants from pests and negativity.
Harvesting with Intent
Always ask the plant's permission before harvesting. Cut with a dedicated boline (white-handled knife) or sharp scissors. Thank the plant and leave an offering of water or a hair.
Drying Methods
Hang bundles upside down in a dark, dry room for 1-2 weeks. For quick drying, use a dehydrator at 95°F. Store in glass jars away from light. Label with date and moon phase.
Indoor Growing
Most magical herbs thrive on a sunny windowsill: basil, mint, rosemary, thyme, and lavender. Use terracotta pots for earth energy. Charge soil under the full moon before planting.
Blessing Your Garden
At planting, sprinkle moon water on the soil and say: "By root and stem, by leaf and flower, I charge this garden with magical power." Re-bless at each sabbat.
Safety Warning
Some magical herbs are toxic if ingested (belladonna, foxglove, monkshood, hemlock, henbane). NEVER consume any herb unless you are 100% certain of its identity and safety. Many powerful magical herbs should only be used externally, in sachets, or burned as incense — never eaten or drunk as tea. When in doubt, consult a qualified herbalist. Pregnant and nursing women should exercise extra caution with ALL herbs.
