Grief Release and Comfort Ritual

Honor loss and begin the sacred process of grief with a ritual that holds space for sorrow while connecting you to ancestral comfort and healing.

Level: Beginner Element: Water Moon: Waning

Steps

  1. Light myrrh incense — myrrh has been used in funeral rites and grief work for thousands of years.
  2. Place a photo or symbol of what you have lost before you.
  3. Hold apache tears (a form of obsidian traditionally used for grief) in one hand and smoky quartz in the other.
  4. Allow yourself to cry, speak aloud, or simply sit with the loss for as long as needed — do not rush this.
  5. When you feel ready, light the white candle and say: 'I honor this loss. I honor my grief. I allow healing to come in its own time. [Name], I love you and I release you to the light.'
  6. Write in your journal: what you are grateful for about what was lost, and what legacy it leaves in your life.
