Your First Daily Card
The single most useful tarot practice there is, and how to make it a habit that lasts.
One card, every morning
The daily card is the whole craft in miniature. Shuffle, ask for something true about the day, pull one card, look, and go live your day. In the evening, come back and ask: where did I see it?
This is not fortune telling. The card does not decide your day; it gives you a lens. A Three of Pentacles morning is a day to notice collaboration. A Hermit morning is permission to protect your quiet.
How to pull without overthinking
Shuffle until it feels finished, not until it is perfect. Cut once if you like. Take the top card, or fan the deck and choose the one your hand drifts to. There is no wrong method; there is only the method you will actually repeat.
Say the card's name out loud. Name three things you see in the picture before you name a meaning. Only then, if you want, check the book.
- Pull a daily card for seven days in a row. Keep the entries short: card, three things you saw, one sentence at night.
- On day seven, read all seven entries together. Notice which suit showed up most. That is your week's theme.
A gentle warning about reversals
Some readers turn cards upside down and read them as blocked or inward energy. You do not have to. For your first month, read every card upright and let the pictures teach you. Reversals are lesson eight, not lesson two.
