Steps

  1. Go outside at twilight when the crescent moon is first visible in the western sky.
  2. Hold your moonstone bead up toward the crescent and make your wish clearly in your mind.
  3. Write your wish on a small paper and tie it to the silver ribbon along with the moonstone bead.
  4. Hang the ribbon on an outdoor tree or branch where moonlight and wind can touch it.
  5. Press star anise to your lips (its shape mirrors the pentagram) and whisper your wish aloud three times.
  6. Leave the ribbon outside through the entire waxing phase. Retrieve it at the full moon and keep the moonstone as a talisman of the fulfilled wish.
